The essence of the brand of antisemitism promoted by Henry Ford: Anger directed at the nebulous web of war-profiteers.
The triggering social event was World War I which has a chestful of social change on its conscience.
In other words, the crux of antisemitism in this regard in the 1920s is what today corresponds to the anger aroused by the modern military industrial complex: Businessmen eager for war to gain a profit.
That at least is one of the emotional drivers.
The conclusion? A social cause can easily acquire a grim face. We can easily forget the distinction between an individual and the system in which he as a participant plays by certain rules.
I am convinced that genocide takes more than just a strong feeling, though. Elevating an animosity to a “Jewish” problem requires reasoning of some sort, which the world had in abundance, to the point where one way to determine the true boundaries of Western civilisation is by noting how far the antisemitic tracer substance permeate the globe.
Where does greed come from? The individual or the social system?
The answer – which most people arrive at through a lived life – is that we all have a lot of traits lying in wait. It takes a culture to elicit our worst sides.
The fact that many of us pride ourselves in a “but I would never do that"-attitude means very little, when, given a sufficient amount of theory, we can understand why we should be ashamed of our reluctance.

A lot of the planning done by Herzl is targeted at controlling the influx of Jews into the new state.
Minds like those of William J. Cameron and Henry Ford expect Jews to be profit mongering by habit.
Herzl spends a good deal of energy setting up a plan to avoid profit mongering amongst the arrivals. So he agrees?
Certainly not. It is very clear that he expects most arrivals to be ordinary people asking for work and food. His plans contains contingencies for outlier cases which is to be expected when you invite thousands of people to come to a country.

That Theodor Herzl is something of a character. Certainly he drove a hatchet into the catacombs of reality. He swiftly dispatches demographic groups left and right to positions he has thought out without a hint at democratic discussions.
About beggars and people not working he is both firm (or realistic?) and politically quite like your everyday conservative.

About people who he at first seems to call unintelligent, but now that I slowly learn to read him, it seems he is referring to people who appear dimwitted because of their treatment:

lowest grade of intelligence the consoling illusion of their utilityin the world. We will provide easy tasks for those who are incapable of physical labor; for we must allow for diminished vitality in the poor of an already enfeebled generation.
He is firm in his dealings, but the language indicates that these unfortunate are the result of humiliating circumstances.
But future generations shall be dealt with otherwise; they shall be brought up in liberty for a life of liberty.
This makes AJS a social experiment as well.
In the year 2025 when we believe ourselves to no longer view Jews as different from other races or cultures, we can instead use their fate as a way to gain insight into our own mental fabric. How would we react to being herded into ghettos? Learn from the Jews. If it was built into the global vernacular that our people could not avoid transgressing the social norm in some embarrassing way, how easily would we integrate? Ask the Jews.
Human culture is a labyrinthine cave system where we live and breathe the immediate and recognisable features around us, and yet we are the product of every fork in the road taken generations ago. Sometimes the herd arrives at a junction, some go left, some go right and from then on their realities start to drift apart.
Herzl makes no effort to soften the choice between stay or go.

Something about language came up today.
Herzl, describing how the Jews would, when permitted, rather move up the ladder, he argues that poor Jews, given the chance, would stop drifting around and take up any trade available.
What struck me, though was a subtle difference between his language and that of Dearborn Independent.

I think this threat of a curse lurking in the shadows may actually be a key ingredient. The more the theory appeals to a feeling of helplessness, the more violent we react.
To Sergei Nilus, the invocation of the spectre of Antichrist was enough.
Today prophecy has been supplanted by historical and social laws. The same kind of inevitability makes us shudder over the unstoppable consequences.

TIJ - Ch. 2 - Germany’s Reaction Against The Jew

Recovering from the shock of the unadulterated nazism that here finds expression I must be wary of the reverberation between Germany and America here.
TIJ picks up a lot of the talking points inside Germany in the Weimar era. While not exactly wholly innocent, it makes historical sense: They are looking for confirmation on the theory of the International Jew, and Germany provided examples. This was before Holocaust (but pogroms were an old phenomenon already). The point is that today we also rarely hold back our fists when pummelling people in public. What if the MAGA people are later discovered slaughtered systematically and put in a mass grave? Imagine the massive backlash that would result. You could say that about Democrats and all sorts of denominations as well.
TIJ also picks up heavily from the Protocols which saw the light of day in 1905. Flying in the face of the chronology, I use TIJ as a “source” of the Protocols, that is, since the Protocols make use of anti-semitism as a literary device, but puts its emotions into aristocratic day-dreaming, I decided to use TIJ to understand those emotions better. The Protocols are too unserious, too ironic to reveal anything about the emotional content of its antisemitism.
TIJ finds the Protocols and sees something confirmed that the authors already knew in their hearts was true.
TIJ searches and finds in Germany living proof of the problems that the Jews introduce by their perverted presence. Again, the authors are in search of confirmation of their suspicions.
Hitler later back-ports the TIJ articles as confirmation of their pet theories.
This re-importing of their own theories increases their validity. A lot of unfounded myths are solidifying into believable theories when professor A cites professor B who cites C, who in turn was inspired by A and B.
I am not sure whether Herzl provides or consumes more urban myths and conjectures. I think the Protocols, TIJ and the Nazi theorists have all read jewish zionist literature. If AJS is a measure of the language, that alone provides ample “proof” that the Jews area strongly represented in business (they were forced to), they avoid other trades (they were forced away from them), some are rich (and probably don’t want to migrate, so Herzl waves goodbye to them) etc.

Hitler couldn’t have spoken more clearly.
“Proof” comes in the form of naming names. If there is a Jew in a council, what else needs to be said? The transitional body in Germany after 1918 was the Council of the People’s Deputies. A mixed group of Jews (some conservative, some socialist) and non-Jews becomes a body of only Jews in this kind of proof.
I realise that to a Hitler, a socialist mind is incurable. Something is wrong with it on a genetic level. This retreat from intellectual endeavour, from actually understanding Karl Kautsky instead of just mentioning he is Jewish and an “aid” to Hugo Haase from SPD (probably reversing the mentorship a bit). Kautsky had lasting impact on many people. Lenin defends his ideas. I need to put Kautsky on my reading list by the way.
A lot of the names of so-called influential Jews people mentioned in TIJ are impossible to dig up, especially as I only have part of their name.

What strikes me as odd here is that the Fords of the world - American liberals - join forces with the orthodox conservatives in Russia in viewing Jews as the real capitalists.

I still feel like I am making no headway at all.
The theories contemplated in TIJ seem almost childish to me. I writhe and wiggle to try to squeeze my way into the mentality, but in vain.
